Indigenous Disability Advisory Committee
BCAAFC in partnership with Community Living BC (CLBC) seeks to develop culturally safe and relevant Home Share practices, guidelines, and resources and to engage urban Indigenous partners in community inclusion initatives.
We are seeking individuals to join our advisory committee for 2022-2023 to ensure the Indigenous Home Share Project is developed WITH and BY Indigenous people with diverse abilities and/or neuro-diversity and is supported by long-term Indigenous allies to the disability community.
The advisory committee will hold meetings over the coming year (approximately 4 to 6 meetings) and will include both virtual and in-person gatherings.
The Indigenous Disability Advisory Committee will be asked to:
- Provide cultural and social perspectives on Indigenous Cultural Safety
- Ensure that decisions and recommendations reflect and Indigenous perspective that respects and considers variations of different Nations, Communities, and distinctions (First Nation, Métis, Inuit) within BC and Nationally
- Provide guidance and feedback on the project direction and strategic planning
- Provide regular and specific feedback to the BCAAFC Indigenous Disability Coordinator when requested
Committee members will receive honorarium for participation in meetings and all expenses to attend in-person meeting(s) including travel, accommodation, and meals will be covered by BCAAFC.
