Job Summary
Located within the territory of WSÁNEĆ (Saanich), Lkwungen (Songhees) and Wyomilth (Esquimalt) peoples, the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (BCAAFC) is the umbrella association for the 25 Friendship Centres throughout the Province of British Columbia. The BCAAFC collaboratively works to promote and deliver accessible programs and services that target urban Indigenous peoples and that support their vision of health and wellness.
The Executive Assistant manages a number of key responsibilities that include direct administrative support for the Executive Director, the Board of Directors and Membership, drafting communications, and reports, recording minutes and actions, and scheduling and planning meetings and events. The position will assist in providing analysis of complex issues, drafting letters and briefing notes, information packages, communiques, and reports. This position requires maintaining positive relationships with the Executive Director, Board, member centres, and key stakeholders including government and other partner organizations. The role requires skills and strength with internal/external communication and relationship building with the ability to be flexible with their time.

Qualifications
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work effectively with limited supervision in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- Conflict management experience as an asset
- Minimum of 5 years experience as an Executive Assistant to a senior role.
- Business-level writing capacity
- Experience managing multiple files – project management would be an asset
- Experience working in the non-profit sector
- Ability to handle a variety of different personalities with ease
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and/or urban Indigenous service organizations
- Experience providing administrative support to a Board of Directors
Employment Conditions
- This position is a work-from-home position in Vancouver, BC. Local travel is required to meet with the Executive Director at the schedule you two agree upon.
- The BCAAFC office is located at 551 Chatham Street and is an accessible space including ground-floor workspaces, elevator and accessible workstations.
- The selected individual must have a stable internet connection and a phone line. IT services and laptops will be supplied.
- The workweek is 35 hours, some overtime and additional travel will be required.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be a requirement for the successful candidate.
- A driver’s license is required
- A clear criminal record check-vulnerable sector check is required
The compensation package includes…
- Three weeks paid vacation (plus additional time off during office closure at the end of December)
- Employee health benefits plan, upon completion of 3-month probation period
- $60,000 – $70,000 starting salary based on experience.
- RRSP matching of up to 8% of annual salary to a max of $8,000 per year.
