The Path Forward Community Fund is a provincial initiative funded by the B.C. Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General and the federal government and administered by BCAAFC. The fund supports Indigenous-led, community-defined approaches to addressing gender-based violence through safety planning, healing, and capacity building.

Since the Path Forward Community Fund was created in 2022, more than $22 million has been invested into more than 100 Indigenous-led community projects.

Applications for Round Six of the Path Forward Community Fund are not yet open. 

Who is Eligible?

The Path Forward Community Fund is open to any of the following Indigenous agencies and communities in British Columbia:

  • Applicant(s) identified as Indigenous person(s) and/or organization(s)
  • Applicant(s) identified as a First Nations, Bands, and/or Tribal Councils
  • Treaty First Nation Governments
  • Métis Chartered Communities
  • Métis organizations or services providers
  • Urban/off-reserve Indigenous organization/Communities(s)

What Activities are Eligible?

Eligible activities include:

  • Building capacity;
  • Hosting engagement and facilitation;
  • Supporting the development of crisis response plans;
  • Materials for communication plans;
  • Information sharing and tools to navigate the justice and public safety systems;
  • Serving Indigenous people with disabilities who may face GBV
  • Culturally appropriate safety training; and
  • Cultural support and healing.
